Chill, Enjoy the Little Things.

Bukit Timah Truss Bridge · Lean on Me, 2023
Crocheted blankets and tulips along the railings of the black steel railway truss bridge at Bukit Timah, the old track running into the distance.

Chill, Enjoy the Little Things was part of Lean on Me at the old Bukit Timah railway bridge. Lean on Me is a mental wellbeing initiative across Holland-Bukit Timah and Bukit Panjang, with five installations by different artists, about a neighbourhood where wellbeing is talked about openly and no one feels alone.

The pieces took their cue from the patchwork blankets children are given by their grandparents. These blankets are always colourful. They made us feel loved and safe. We’d use them for years until they fell apart. We wanted visitors to feel the warmth and hope of secure relationships and remember that safe spaces exist. The bees and flowers were inspired by the green corridor around the bridge.
