Crochet Garden.
Now recruiting · installs October 2026
Inspired by the Singapore Garden Festival, we are making a quiet corner out of crocheted potted plants. The Reading Nook will be on at Fusionopolis One from 1 to 21 October 2026.
Pick a plant from our list and get started. You will need to know how to crochet but may not have done plants before. That part takes a few new tricks. Our volunteers are on hand to help you shape leaves and petals, and to get you unstuck.
Work in 5 or 8 ply yarn and wire, in colours close to the real plant, and bring your first piece along to a meetup so we can take a look together. The only rule of size is that a plant should stand at least 30cm tall. Bigger is welcome.
There is room for a whole flora, and it leans towards plants that are native to Singapore:
- Hibiscus
- Orchid
- Ginger
- Jasmine
- Cempaka
- Pandan
- Pitcher plant
- Bird of paradise
- Heliconia
- Monstera and other big-leaved aroids, in their variegated silvers and greens
- Sunflower
No roses, carnations, or frangipani. If something you love is not on the list, tell us and we will see.
Grow one with us.
Registration is open now. Choose a plant from the list above and find a pattern for it. We will help you with the technique. You do not need to have made a plant before.
